All peace and quiet in Tralee Town Park at 8:30 AM... Wait and see what happens at 9:30!
Run Director Den McCarthy welcomes newcomers and tourists
Just before we started Zach Walshe was presented with a certificate to mark his 10th parkrun!
And they're off!
So what's all this about volunteering? Every week at least a dozen people help out to make sure the run "runs" smoothly! Here's some of the volunteers who gave their time today... Maybe next week it could be you!
Den was our Run Director, first in the park this morning, making sure everything was set up and safe! And afterwards, back to The Brandon to upload all the results, arrange volunteers for next week's run, and in his spare time tonight he will write this week's Run Report for the web page. A true stalwart of Tralee's core volunteer team.
The Run Director meets all the volunteers before each week's run and full training is given to all new recruits! Regular runners are asked to volunteer about three times in a year to lighten the load!
John & Teresa were our Timekeepers. A grand easy job, as you can see. All you need is a thumb and a smile!
On barcode scanning this week, Ger and Jaison! Smile is optional.
No FInish Tokens went missing this week! Well done Ashley-Ann and support man Danny
Another regular runner-volunteer - FInish Token Sorting was taken care of by Frances. There are some jobs you can do and still enjoy your run (FInish Token Support, Pacer, pre-Event set-up, Results Processor).
Caroline's first time volunteering this week, she was our Marshal - keeping everyone on track and making sure even the runners with blue T-shirt did not skip the "dog-leg" - and Tail Runner! It's only a lonely job for the first three minutes, then you have company all day!
Not one but two photographers this week, Ronan and Liam. You can guess which one has the shakier hand! Scroll down to see lots more photos from these two paparazzi!
Bridget is always in the park on Saturday, either running or volunteering, or both This week she was on Communications: recruiting volunteers for the next few weeks and taking down details for runners whose barcodes would not scan properly. She's also a great Cheerleader and occasional Dancer!
Missing-In-Action today, but always there behind the scenes Event Director Siobhán does a huge amount every week to keep Tralee parkrun going!
This week Tony passed on the camera to the younger lads and helped Den with Results Processing, and put Liam and Ronan's photos on the web. And still he was able to enjoy his "run"!
